The Schengen states are included in the list of visa-free countries for Malta passport holders. Moreover, Maltese citizens can stay there without any time limit and are entitled to study and work there without any additional permits.

Maltese citizens only need to register at their place of residence in another Schengen member state to stay there for more than 90 days.

Malta citizenship helps the holder in the following ways:

  • move to a safe country with a high standard of living;

  • access modern medicine;

  • work and set up a business in Europe;

  • change tax jurisdiction;

  • educate their children in European universities.

Relocation and establishing a business or education in Europe are the main reasons for obtaining Malta citizenship.
