Greece Investment Funds for Obtaining a Golden Visa: Updated 2026 Guide
The Greece Golden Visa offers several investment options to obtain a residence permit, including the purchase of real estate. However, not all investors are interested in managing property or dealing with maintenance costs and taxes. For those seeking a simpler and more flexible solution, investing at least €350,000 in regulated mutual funds provides a practical alternative — with no need to own or maintain physical assets. This article explores how fund-based investments work, who they suit best, and why they are gaining traction in today’s market.
Obtaining a Golden Visa in 7 steps
1 day
Preliminary Due Diligence
A certified Compliance Anti-Money Laundering Officer checks the investor’s background against global databases, such as Europol and Interpol, to identify risks. This process usually takes one day.
We sign an agreement with the investor only after the preliminary Due Diligence check. If there are risks, we offer an alternative solution: clarify the situation in an affidavit or choose another program.
1+ week
Document preparation
The legal team prepares the official forms and gives you a checklist of what’s needed. You collect the required personal and financial documents.
We translate documents and notarise them. We also conclude a power of attorney for you to sign, so your lawyer can act on your behalf in Greece.
Up to 1 week
Obtaining a tax number
The applicant must obtain a Greek tax identification number called AMF. It is necessary for buying or renting real estate, opening bank accounts, and registering businesses.
Immigrant Invest lawyers apply for a tax number on behalf of the investor.
1—3 months
Fulfilment of investment conditions
You choose your investment — real estate, bank deposit, or investment fund units — and complete the transaction. Lawyers gather all documents proving the investment.
If you’re opening a Greek bank account to place a deposit, you’ll need a national D visa and must visit the bank in person. We assist with the whole process, including visa support and account setup.
1—2 months
Submitting an application
Documents are submitted via the official website of the Greek migration service. Lawyers provide the applicant with a customised list of required documents and fill out government forms.
The application is reviewed within 1—2 months. Once it is approved, the investor collects their documents in person or through a lawyer.
1 day
Submission of biometrics
Biometric data — fingerprints and a photo — must be submitted before your residence card is issued. Appointments are usually scheduled quickly, most within a couple of weeks.
You have up to 6 months to submit biometrics, but it’s best to do this early to avoid delays.
3+ months
Getting the residence card
Once the application is approved, the residence permit card is issued. You can either collect it in person or have your lawyer do it for you.
You’ll need to return the certificate of application and present your passport when collecting the card.
