Relocating to a country with high living standards

When I was younger, I was constantly around foreigners. During my studies at Shanghai University and as an exchange student in the USA, I met a lot of people from different countries and learnt so much about the world. It was the best time of my life, I swear! After graduating and getting a serious job, everything changed. However, I still wanted to experience the excitement of living in an unfamiliar place and exploring new cultures. Immigrant Invest brought this feeling back into my life by helping me obtain Hungary White Cards.

After 30 years of living in different countries and moving to a new place every few years, we finally decided to settle somewhere. We are not young anymore, so we were looking for a country with a pleasant climate, a calm lifestyle, and a high level of safety. Portugal immediately felt like the right place as soon as we considered it. Immigrant Invest helped us choose the most suitable visa and guided us throughout the entire process.

I always wanted my sons to be successful and prosperous, and I knew that a good education was the key to achieving this. So, I set a goal for myself: to help Asfaw and Mesfin enrol in prestigious universities. The first step was, of course, English—nowadays, it’s everywhere. I thought, why make them learn grammar in Ethiopia when I can immerse them in an English-speaking environment in Malta instead?

My ex-husband and I had been dreaming of moving to Europe for several years, but we were too busy with our careers and raising our son, Elias.  We have divorced recently. And I thought, “Well, now is the time to start a new life. Relocating to Europe can be the first step.”

I decided to get Cyprus permanent residence to move to Europe and expand my business to the European market. I also wanted to have a chance to travel around the Schengen Area fast and easy. While living in Brazil, doing that is impossible: you pay a lot of money for flight tickets and spend at least 10 hours on a plane. 

When I decided to move to Portugal, I aimed to obtain a D7 Visa as the conditions seemed attractive. But at the consultation with Immigrant Invest, I realised that visa didn't fit me well. That wasn't too bad, as I was immediately offered another opportunity — a Digital Nomad Visa. Four months after the consultation, I held a passport with a visa to Portugal. Three more months later, I received a residence permit. That's the pace I like.

We’ve been together for 20 years, travelled a lot and especially liked it in Europe. In 2021, we finally decided to get residence permits in a European country to move from Angola and not depend on visa approvals if we want to explore new places. We both have our own businesses but aren’t tied to the workplace, so it all seemed possible. But we didn’t think that being officially married would be such a big deal money-wise. We’ve had our happy ending in Portugal, where we’ve been living for half a year already!

I can afford a better life for my family with my income level. I want my wife and daughter to live in an advanced country and access the best things the world can offer so far.

Would it be nice to live in the Mediterranean part of France, grow a vineyard there, and gather my friends from Armenia to try the cognac I've made. Live and retire there to host our family, nephews and, can't wait, my grandsons in the future! It is my dream life.

My children are my pride! They are great, they have always studied well and strived for achievement. However, striving alone will not take you far. So, it is up to my wife and me to help them in everything. In our youth, we did not have such opportunities: to study and holiday abroad, and build an international career. Now it's different. And for us as parents, it makes us happy to see our children growing up as cosmopolitans: free, well-balanced and educated. Yes, now the whole world is at their feet!

When I decided to leave Afghanistan and applied for second citizenship, I didn’t know the Taliban would start rapidly conquering the country in May. I was scared of them and what awaited me if they seized power over the whole country. When Talibs last governed the country [1996—2001], girls couldn’t go to school, and women couldn’t work. We had to wear burqas to go out and could not appear on the streets without a male relative. We had to marry men our fathers had chosen for us. Personally, my mum had to. My older friends also told me about women being flogged and executed. Talibs promised not to ban women from studying and working this time, but I wouldn’t believe it. I realised I had made the right decision to leave Afghanistan. And I’m grateful to Immigrant Invest for helping me.

My wife Emma dreamed of quitting and relocating to Europe. But I love my job and didn't want to leave my position as Head and owner of a publishing company. We have a vast list of great authors and thousands of giant fans. But the pandemic leads to adjustments. And we finally decided to do what we had planned for a long time.

I always consider Lagos as a prosperous financial and cultural centre in Nigeria. The country gave me opportunities to develop a consulting business, so I have enough money to get my children to study at the best European colleges. Unfortunately, the Nigerian passport is so poor and does not allow my family to travel anywhere except to African countries without applying for a visa.

I’m a self-made person. I managed to build a successful business, so now I can create a better life for my family and a happier childhood for my daughters. Moving from India was just a matter of time. Here, you can make more and more money but can’t find a place which would combine high living standards and sound ecology. Austria seems to be a perfect choice.

We love our home country but wanted more comfort for us and our child. That’s why we decided to move to another place with better environmental conditions and a peaceful atmosphere. In the end, we knew we could always return to Egypt or visit it as often as we wanted. We looked through various investment programs but couldn’t find anything suitable. Then, Immigrant Invest agents suggested we consider Malta permanent residency, which ended up being the best option possible.

On October 28 Immigrant Invest’s lawyers reminded me that our Maltese residence permits needed to be extended as they were due to expire in two months. I intend to quit the business in several years and devote my time to leisure and travel.  My wife and I enjoy living in the Mediterranean and do not want to change that. At the same time, we want our home to be safe from earthquakes. Also, I want to provide my daughters with educational and career opportunities I didn’t have growing up.  So, I decided to relocate my family to a country in Southern Europe that could cover our needs.

We like our lives as Saint Lucia citizens. Travelling visa-free, good education for my son, no taxes on global income. Having lived a year in Castries, I haven’t found any drawbacks yet.

We decided to move to Portugal to find inexpensive but quality healthcare. We earned a decent income in the US but still sometimes questioned taking our parents to a doctor when they needed it. It was always costly but not the fact that qualitatively. It is the other way round in Portugal: Dad just had surgery that cost us nothing. Safety was another reason. In the US, many people have guns, and the crime rate is much higher than in Portugal. Here we finally can relax and not be afraid of being robbed.

Moving to the US has always been my dream. And I was really upset when I found out how much an EB-5 business visa to the US cost. To pay $1 million of the investment fee, I would have to withdraw money from my business, which is unprofitable for the company. So, I started searching for alternative ways with Immigrant Invest’s help.

I worked as a plastic surgeon in a Cape Town hospital. After moving to Europe, I hoped to get a position in some medical centres after getting a passport. I moved to Estonia a couple of years ago with my wife and daughters. We thought about obtaining Estonian passports as a prospect of becoming full-fledged EU citizens. However, we faced difficulties in the process: naturalisation requires applicants to know the state language and have no income in other countries. So, we started to look for new opportunities to obtain citizenship in Europe.

We have been actively travelling for the last five years. Approximately every 2—3 months, we change the country. During our travels, we learned English and German at a basic level. After the wedding, we thought about immigrating to Europe. We enjoy the temperate climate, rich culture and winter fun at the ski resorts.

Living in Kenya, I looked for crypto‑friendly jurisdictions to relocate my business and optimise taxes. My wife wanted to move rather far off from Africa. The Caribbean region was on our country's wishlist. Fortunately, five countries have citizenship by investment programs. We chose Antigua and Barbuda.

We have spent all our lives living and working in a busy, tough city. When it came to retirement, we considered our savings and decided to move abroad — to the sea, heat and privacy, to a place without all that hustle and bustle. We deserved it. Moreover, we would get the chance to reduce our tax burden after relocation, which is a thorny issue for all American citizens.

My wife and I have been thinking about life in the United States. In addition, the real estate investments there are profitable: property prices grow by 8—10% per year. Cheyenne has already bent my ear about Las Vegas and the beaches of Miami; she's adamant about travelling the country from West to East. Moreover, the children will soon graduate from school, and I want them to study in the USA.

My wife and I get income from renting out properties. Our latest acquisition is in Turkey: we bought an apartment in Kemer a year ago. Before renting out, we decided to live there ourselves and obtained an Ikamet, a Turkish residence permit. We liked living in Turkey. Here we felt calm and safe, and relaxed. In our home country, Palestine, it wasn't easy to feel the same way. We were always on the alert due to the perpetual conflict with Israel. We decided to stay in Turkey for permanent residence and obtain Turkish passports.

From time to time, my wife and I raised the question of moving to another country. But you know how these things go: children, life, work. It was difficult to make a decision and change our lives. But recent events have shown that you’d better not put off your plans for tomorrow. Moreover, the children already grew up and went off around the world. In October 2022, we contacted Immigrant Invest. After consulting with an investment program expert, we realised that a residence permit in Dubai is most suitable for our goals. Two months later, we received UAE residence visas for two years.

Lauren and I divorced a year after getting Turkey citizenship. We split our assets in court. During the process, it turned out that the actual price of our Turkish villa did not correspond to the cost stated in the contract. The court declared the transaction invalid. We lost the property, which meant we could not confirm the fulfilment of investment conditions. As a result, we could lose Turkey citizenship. We turned to Immigrant Invest for help. Within two weeks, real estate specialists selected properties for us, lawyers completed the paperwork, and we bought new properties. This is how we retained the second Turkey citizenship.

I signed an agreement with Immigrant Invest to participate in the Turkey citizenship program. I wanted to get a second passport by buying property quickly. I planned a trip to Turkey, so I decided to see everything with my own eyes the old-fashioned way. However, I did not know the peculiarities of the local laws and paid dearly for them.

I want to move my family to the US. In the States, I will have a more favourable investment climate, my daughter will get the best education globally, and my wife will fulfil a lifelong dream just by living here. Everyone is happy.

The health of our family is more important than anything else. So I could not allow my parents to return to Turkmenistan in the midst of the pandemic. They could have caught Covid even on their way home.

As soon as Lusine received her passport and celebrated her new Canadian citizenship, we got a new wish. My wife and I love everything about Canada: the work, the community, the country. Except for the cold weather. We met Lusine in Portugal at a surf camp. And every year we looked forward to holidays to go there again. So we had no doubts about wanting to live in Portugal.

When we first visited Austria, our daughter Alison got excited about moving there. And for several years, she has not given up the idea. She has chosen German as a foreign language to study at school and plans to enter an Austrian university. My wife and I disapproved of the idea at first but then got used to it and even liked it. We do not want Alison to go there alone, so we have decided on moving together right after she finishes school.

My wife has always dreamt of moving from Africa to Europe, and as time went by, I got into the idea. Finally, we can do it. We decided not to wait until we could afford relocation to countries like Austria or Switzerland. Greece is a lovely country that offers residence permits under very attractive conditions, and wasting this opportunity is not for us.

We do not plan to register the marriage as we are already a family: we have us, the child, the house and everyday life together. We want to move to Europe as a family, so we decided to get permanent residence by investment. We were afraid that nothing would come of it without a marriage stamp on the passport. But everything worked out, although additional documents had to be collected.

We bought a house in Portugal, conducted an expensive renovation, but could not get a residence permit under the investment program: the intermediary let us down. We turned to Immigrant Invest, already desperate. I left South Africa several years ago when I received a job offer from a German research centre. My business goes well in Morocco, and I would have stayed in my country if not for my daughter. Rachida and I understand that investing in Meriem’s future is better now. We want our daughter to get an education in the US, the EU or the UK. So, we got Dominica passports which gave us access to these countries and, in the future, the possibility to move to Europe. But for now, we’ve decided to move to Dominica and try living here.

I was born and raised in Armenia. I studied hard and worked, rarely leaving the country. Now I can afford to move to a European country, so here we are. The second passport will make it much easier for us to travel and ensure a good life for the children.

I have long wanted to live in a warm place by the sea. After retirement, I can finally implement this into life. I dreamed of Italy and Spain, but these countries’ investment programs did not suit me. Malta, a small and pretty island with a pleasantly mild climate, has become a perfect place to move to, and I had not even known about this country before. After the divorce, I got left with a dog and an apartment in Minneapolis. I decided to sell the condo and move from the city, which kept reminding me of my ex-wife. At first, I thought about moving to another state but then chose to relocate to Europe.
