36 countries that issue eVisas to Egyptian citizens

An electronic visa (eVisa) and an electronic travel authorisation (eTA) are digital travel permits required for entry into the country. Both these permits are issued and processed online.

The online process of applying for an electronic visa varies from country to country. In general, applicants enter their personal data and upload required documents, such as scans of a passport and their photos, and pay visa fees.

Officials evaluate the application and approve or deny a visa. The assessment process varies by country and typically takes 15 to 30 business days. The system generates a visa and sends it to the holder’s email address if the visa is approved.

Those who have an Egyptian passport may visit 36 countries via eVisa or eTA. These countries are:

  1. Albania.

  2. Antigua and Barbuda.

Egypt citizenship by investment: available options

Prosperous foreigners may obtain Egypt citizenship by investment within a period of 6—12 months. There are four investment options, starting at $250,000.

1. Non-refundable contribution. Investors donate $250,000 or more to the State’s Public Treasury. The investor may make a contribution in parts during the year.

2. Real estate purchase. Investors can buy either commercial or residential property. It is also possible to buy a land lot. The property may be in operation or under construction.

The price of a property item has to start at $300,000. However, this option allows the return on the invested money: five years after obtaining Egypt citizenship, it is possible to sell the property.

3. Business investment. To fulfil this investment option, an applicant has to start a business in Egypt or buy a local company. The investment, in this case, starts from $350,000. This option is also refundable: the investor can have a return on investment five years after obtaining citizenship.

Apart from the mentioned sum, the investor makes a non-refundable contribution of $100,000 to the State’s public treasury.

4. Bank deposit. Investors open an account at the Central Bank of Egypt. This deposit is interest-free. The sum of the investment is $500,000. Still, the return on the investment is available three years after obtaining citizenship.

How to obtain an Egypt passport

The whole process of obtaining an Egyptian passport takes about 6 months and contains 7 steps. Let’s have a look at them.

1 day

Preliminary Due Diligence

Before concluding the contract with a client, Immigrant Invest always conducts preliminary Due Diligence in order to minimise the risks of refusal to 1%.

A certified Anti-Money Laundering Officer checks on the investor in international business and judicial databases. The process is absolutely confidential and requires just an investor’s passport.

Government fee payments

With the help of an Immigrant Invest lawyer, the investor pays a $10,000 or equivalent sum in another currency. The investor makes a transaction from abroad to the Egyptian Cabinet account at the Central Bank of Egypt.

2+ weeks

Preparation of documents and application

With the lawyers’ assistance, the investor collects the necessary documents:

  • copies of the investor’s passport and family members applying for citizenship passports;

  • every applicant’s birth certificate;

  • 4 passport photos;

  • a receipt proving that the government fee of $10,000 was paid;

  • a certificate of no criminal record from the country of residence. This document must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt;

  • a certificate of no criminal record from Egyptian authorities if the investor has visited Egypt before;

  • a medical check report from an Egyptian hospital;

  • an official certificate of the applicant’s movements during the past five years issued by the country of origin and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

The lawyer of Immigrant Invest translates the documents, notarises them and applies them on behalf of the investor on the program’s website.

3+ months

First Due Diligence

The government examines the investor’s documents in two stages. Within the first three months, they checked the applicant through the Egyptian security authorities' databases.

The investors can accelerate the process of the document examination if they transfer the total investment amount before the first Due Diligence.

Obtaining a temporary residence permit

After the first Due Diligence, the investor acquires a 6-month residence permit. Within this period, the investor is supposed to enter Egypt and make the investment.

Up to 3 months

Second Due Diligence

After the applicant fulfils the investment requirement, the program’s department resumes Due Diligence. If the commission approves the investor, the department recommends him to the Prime Minister of Egypt. The latter signs the naturalisation papers.

Becoming a citizen of Egypt

Having received a naturalisation certificate and a passport, the investor becomes a citizen of Egypt.

Egypt passport renewal

An Egyptian passport is valid for seven years after being issued. To renew an Egyptian passport, a citizen has to go to the Department of the Ministry of Interior Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality in Egypt or visit an Egyptian Consulate in another country.

One who needs to have a passport renewed has to submit the following documents:

  • their valid Egyptian passport;

  • an Egyptian National ID;

  • 3 recent photos with a white background;

  • men have to provide a certificate of their military status if it is not stated in their current passport;

  • women, having changed their marital status, have to present a marriage, divorce or a spouse’s death certificate.

The Egyptian passport renewal takes about eight weeks. The fees depend on the country where the Consulate is situated and, as a rule, are around $350.

Immigrant Invest lawyers remind the passport holder that it’s time to renew the document and help settle the renewal issues. We accompany the applicant during the whole process.

Conclusion: Egyptian Passport Mobility Index

  1. In the passport ranking for freedom of travel, Egypt occupies 117th place among 193 countries with a score of 51.3 points. Egypt’s mobility score over time has been steadily growing since the COVID‑19 pandemic.

  2. Egyptian citizens can visit 14 visa-free, and 67 states issue them visas on arrival or online.

  3. The available visa-free countries include popular tourist destinations such as Barbados and the Seychelles.

  4. Egypt’s passport can be obtained within 6—12 months by investing $250,000 in the country’s economy.
