About Papua New Guinea
A state in the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean. It occupies part of the island of New Guinea, the northern part of the Solomon Islands, the Bismarck Archipelago, the D'Entrecasteaux Islands and a number of other islands. The country has land borders only with Indonesia, sea borders with Australia, Nauru, Solomon Islands and Micronesia.
Papua New Guinea is part of the Commonwealth of Nations. The head of state is the Queen of Great Britain, who is represented on the islands by the Governor General. The economy is based on industry, agriculture and services. The country produces gold, copper, oil, silver, grows coffee, cocoa, vanilla and other crops.
