Summary
St Kitts and Nevis officially launched a national biometric registration programme for citizens on April 15th, 2026.
All citizens, including investors, must obtain a new biometric passport by July 31st, 2027.
What has changed?
The Government of St Kitts and Nevis announced the launch of a mandatory biometric registration programme. It requires replacing all valid passports with modern biometric ones. The changes came into force on April 15th, 2026[1].
Citizenship will not be affected. It remains valid regardless of whether the registration is completed. However, the passport will be deactivated and cannot be used for travel.
When to complete biometric registration?
Booking for biometric submission will open on April 20th, 2026. The first overseas centres will begin accepting applicants on May 1st, 2026.
The deadline for biometric submission is July 31st, 2027. After this date, non-biometric passports will automatically become invalid.

The procedure includes submitting an application via a dedicated portal, paying the fee, visiting a biometric centre, and receiving a new passport.
Adults provide fingerprints and a photo, children only a photo. Currently, authorised centres operate in:
- Basseterre in St Kitts and Nevis;
- Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing in China;
- Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
The Government has also approved additional biometric registration centres, including consulates of St Kitts and Nevis in London, Ottawa, Taipei, and Rabat.

Families are expected to submit biometrics at the same location. We remain in contact with the programme department and continue to clarify details of the new procedure. For example, the country is still developing requirements for visits to St Kitts and Nevis.
Cost of the procedure
The biometric fee will be:
- $2,500+ for the main applicant;
- $2,000+ for family members over 16;
- $1,300+ for children under 16.
The fee includes biometric registration, identity verification, and the new passport. No additional payments apply.
What happens if biometrics are not submitted?
Investors will not lose citizenship but will not be able to travel. Passport holders must complete the procedure within the set deadline to retain global mobility.
