The St Kitts and Nevis Government has approved a new fee structure for the citizenship by investment programme. The changes will take effect on August 1st, 2026.
Avril Blanchette explained what the updated terms mean for applicants.
What has changed?
To obtain St Kitts and Nevis citizenship, applicants can choose one of three investment options:
- Sustainable Island State Contribution Option, SISC — $250,000.
- Public Benefit Option, PBO — $250,000.
- Property purchase — $325,000.
Under the SISC option, there are no additional fees for adding family members to the application. Additional costs apply only when the family includes more than 4 applicants. A fee is payable for each additional family member from the 5th applicant onwards:
- $25,000 for a family member under 18;
- $50,000 for a family member aged 18 or older.
Under the PBO, the investor currently pays a fee for each family member:
- $15,000 for a spouse;
- $10,000 for each child under 18;
- $15,000 for each family member aged 18 or older.
The new rules remove this difference. The cost of participation under the Public Benefit Option will now be calculated under the same rules as the non-refundable contribution to the government fund, with no additional fees for family members included in the application.
When purchasing property, the investor pays an additional fee not only for family members but also for themselves — $25,000. No changes apply to this option.
What St Kitts and Nevis citizenship investment looks like, excluding associated fees
Public Benefit Option cost example. The new terms will be more favourable for married couples and large families. For example, a married couple currently invests $265,000, excluding related expenses. After August 1st, 2026, the amount will decrease to $250,000.
A family of two adults and two children under 18 currently invests $285,000. Under the new terms, a single threshold of $250,000 will apply. This amount already includes the fees.
