Antigua and Barbuda: visa-free countries
Antigua and Barbuda citizens can visit 165 countries without arranging for a visa in advance. To visit 100 of these countries, you don’t need a visa at all; for other 24 countries, it is issued upon arrival, and electronic travel authorisation (eTA) is required before travelling to 5 countries.
The list of visa-free countries and entry conditions are constantly changing, depending on the geopolitical situation in the world. We advise you to check the current entry conditions for the country of your destination on the site of its representative office before travelling.
Popular visa-free countries for Antigua and Barbuda citizens
Antigua and Barbuda passport holders can travel throughout the world with ease. However, the most popular destinations are the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, Singapore and China.
United Kingdom
Antigua and Barbuda citizens can spend up to 180 consecutive days in the UK, as Antigua and Barbuda is part of the Commonwealth of Nations. For citizens of Commonwealth countries, visa-free travel is one of the privileges the UK government offers.
However, Antigua and Barbuda citizens need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, ETA, to enter the UK. An ETA is not a visa; it is a digital pre-authorisation linked to the traveller's passport. It allows multiple stays of up to 6 months at a time, and remains valid for 2 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first[1]Source: The ETA terms and application is available on the UK government website..
Schengen Area
Antigua and Barbuda passport holders can visit the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180 days or up to 3 months in any 180-day period.
Although a Schengen visa also allows the holder to stay up to 3 out of 6 months in the Schengen Area, it is issued for a maximum of 5 years. After the expiration of the term, the visa process has to be restarted from scratch, including re-collecting the required documents, filling out forms and submitting them at the consulate.
The Antigua and Barbuda passport needs to be renewed less often, and the procedure is much simpler.
China
Antigua and Barbuda citizens can travel to China visa-free under a mutual visa exemption agreement between the two countries. The agreement came into force on May 11th, 2024, allowing citizens of each country to visit the other without a visa for stays of up to 30 days within any 90-day period, but a maximum of not more than 90 days within any 180-day period is allowed.
The arrangement covers tourism and short business trips; longer stays, study, or work still require an appropriate Chinese visa obtained in advance.
Singapore
Antigua and Barbuda citizens can travel to Singapore visa-free for short stays of up to 30 days, which is convenient for tourists and investors with business interests in Asia. The waiver covers tourism, social visits, and short business trips such as meetings or conferences. Immigrant Invest
For stays beyond 30 days, or for work, study, or longer-term business activity, an appropriate Singapore visa or pass must be arranged in advance.
How to visit the USA with the Antigua and Barbuda passport
Antigua and Barbuda is not part of the US Visa Waiver Program[2]Source: The list of countries under the Visa Waiver Program is published on the US Homeland Security Website., so its citizens need a nonimmigrant visa — typically a B-1/B-2 visitor visa — for tourism or business.
However, Antiguan citizens can no longer obtain 10-year US visitor visas. Updated State Department reciprocity schedules now cap B-1/B-2 visas at 3 months' validity and a single entry, down from 120 months with unlimited entries. The downgrade extends well beyond tourist and business travel: several work and dependent categories (including H-1B, H-2R, H-3 and H-4 ), as well as student (F), exchange (J), intracompany (L), and religious-worker (R) visas now carry the same 3-month, single-entry limit[3]Source: US visa terms for Antiguan citizens are published on the US Department of State website..
Approved B-1/B-2 applicants from Antigua and Barbuda may be required to post a bond of up to $15,000, with the amount set by the consular officer at the interview. The bond is refundable only if the traveller departs on time, does not travel, or is denied entry, and applicants must enter and exit through one of a limited set of designated airports.
For a traveller who previously held a decade-long visa on a single application fee, the math has changed: every trip now means a fresh application, a possible bond, and another in-person appearance at the US Embassy in Bridgetown, which processes applications for the Eastern Caribbean.
These changes follow President Trump's December 2025 proclamation imposing partial entry restrictions on a group of countries that includes Antigua and Barbuda[4]Source: The full text of Presidential Proclamation 10998 is available on the US Department of State website..
