About Madagascar
An island state in the Indian Ocean, 1162 km off the east coast of Africa. It occupies the island of Madagascar and several small islands. Coffee, cocoa, bananas and peanuts are grown in the country. More than half of the world's bourbon vanilla is produced in Madagascar.
Tourists are attracted by the unique nature of Madagascar: many species of plants and animals are found only there. There are 59 protected areas on the island. Tourists also come to the country to relax on the beaches with white coarse sand, diving and surfing.
