About Haiti
A state in the Caribbean, which occupies the western part of the island of the same name and a number of coastal islands. One of the poorest states in America: the population constantly suffers from hunger, natural disasters and political instability.
Most of the country's population is employed in agriculture: coffee, mangoes, rice and other crops are grown in Haiti. Industry is represented by textile, sugar and flour mills. Deposits of gold and copper have been discovered in the country, but they are almost not developed.
