Dominica passport renewal

We continue supporting our clients long after their passports are issued. When the validity period ends, we manage the renewal to ensure their legal status remains uninterrupted

When to renew a Dominica passport?

Dominica passports are issued for 10 years for adults aged 16 and over, and for 5 years for children under 16. Investors should renew their passports before it expires if they plan to travel or need a valid travel document for practical purposes such as visa applications and compliance checks.

Renewal is also required in the following cases:

  • passport is lost, stolen, or damaged;
  • no blank pages are left;
  • personal details have changed;
  • passport no longer meets current security or biometric standards.

To avoid travel disruption, it is recommended to begin preparation several months before expiry, especially if you travel frequently or rely on the passport for time sensitive applications.

Who can renew a Dominica passport?

A Dominica passport can be renewed by the passport holder or through a legal representative who has been granted power of attorney.

Passport holder

The passport holder may apply for renewal by preparing the required forms and supporting documents and submitting them through the appropriate channel, such as the Passport Office or a Dominica consular channel where applicable.

This option suits applicants who can manage certification requirements and submission logistics on their own.

Licensed agent

A Dominica passport renewal can also be fully managed by a licensed agent authorised by the Government of Dominica. This option is commonly used by citizens residing abroad or those who prefer a managed process.

Immigrant Invest, as an authorised agent, handles the entire renewal process, including the following:

  • monitoring Dominica passport renewal deadlines and notifying clients in advance;
  • preparing renewal forms and affidavit documentation;
  • arranging notarisation, translation, and consular certification of documents;
  • submitting the renewal request to the Passport Office of Dominica;
  • obtaining the new passport and forwarding it securely to the holder.

Frequently asked questions

  • How to renew a Dominica passport?

    To renew the Dominica passport, you must submit a completed renewal form, current passport, photographs and supporting documents through a licensed agent or at a Dominican consulate.

    Immigrant Invest manages all procedures on behalf of clients, from preparing documentation to receiving the renewed passport.

  • How long does it take to renew a passport in Dominica?

    Commonwealth of Dominica passport renewal usually takes up to 2 months depending on the workload of the Passport Office and consular logistics.

    Renewal through Immigrant Invest typically follows the same timeframe, with the added benefit of full procedural support.

  • Can I renew my Dominica passport online?

    A standard passport renewal in Dominica cannot be completed fully online, as the following steps must be done in person:

    • submission of a complete standard renewal package end to end without providing signed forms and supporting documents through the required channel;
    • receiving the renewed passport digitally, since the passport is a physical document that must be issued and delivered.

    However, Immigrant Invest allows clients to complete the process remotely, preparing all documents and submitting them without requiring your presence. Investors do not need to travel to Dominica.

  • What documents are required to renew a Dominica passport?

    For a renewal, you generally need the following documents:

    • completed application form and the supporting instructions followed;
    • your existing passport;
    • certificate of naturalisation;
    • the original Treasury receipt as proof of fee payment;
    • two recent passport photos.

    Depending on how you obtained citizenship and where you are applying from, you may also be asked for additional documents.

  • What should I do if my Dominica passport is lost or stolen?

    If your Dominica passport was lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to the nearest police station or contact a Dominica High Commission or Consulate. If you are in Dominica, you can also report it to the Immigration Office in Roseau.

    You will then need to apply for a replacement passport and provide a statutory declaration or affidavit to support the application. Be prepared for additional checks and higher fees, as a penalty of approximately $185 may apply in addition to the standard application fee.

    Immigrant Invest can support you throughout the process by advising on the correct procedure, preparing the required forms and declarations, arranging notarisation, translation, and certification where needed, and coordinating submission and secure delivery of the replacement passport.

  • How much does it cost to renew a Dominica passport?

    The cost of renewing a Dominica passport depends on the applicant’s age and the reason for renewal.

    A standard renewal usually costs about $56 for adults and $28 for children. If the passport is lost or stolen, higher fees apply, including a penalty of around $185.

    For citizens who obtained passports by investment, the standard renewal fee is typically $75, while replacement fees for lost or stolen passports are significantly higher.

    Additional costs may include document certification, courier delivery, consular fees if applying from abroad, and any professional service fees.
