Antigua and Barbuda passport renewal

We continue assisting our clients long after citizenship is granted. As a passport nears its expiry date, we handle the renewal to help ensure uninterrupted legal status and freedom of travel

When to renew an Antigua and Barbuda passport?

For citizens who obtained nationality through the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Programme, the first passport is issued for 5 years. Renewal is possible if the holder has completed the required physical presence of at least 5 days in Antigua and Barbuda within that 5-year period.

Subsequent passports for adults aged 16 and over are issued with a 10-year validity period. Passports for children under 16 are issued for 5 years.

Citizens who plan to travel or need a valid passport for compliance purposes should renew the document once it has expired or is close to expiry. A new passport is also required in the following cases:

  • passport is lost, stolen, or damaged;
  • no blank pages are left;
  • personal details have changed;
  • passport no longer meets current security or biometric standards.

It is recommended to begin preparation several months before expiry, especially if the passport is used for frequent travel, banking compliance, or visa applications.

To renew an Antigua and Barbuda passport issued under the Citizenship by Investment Programme, applicants must confirm a minimum 5 day stay in Antigua and Barbuda. This is usually shown through supporting documents such as passport entry and exit stamps, boarding passes, hotel invoices, or confirmation from property management for property owners.

The authorities generally accept any two forms of evidence, provided they clearly show the dates and duration of stay.

    You will need official supporting documents such as a marriage certificate or deed poll style name change record, plus translations and certification if required. Immigrant Invest will check consistency across all documents before submission.
