The Trump administration advocates for strict biological gender definitions. Where can transgender people be safer?

The Trump administration has recently issued an executive order aimed at establishing policies that deny the concept of gender diversity and transgender identity.

Here’s what it means and how non-binary people can secure their future with second citizenship or residency.

The infamous executive order reinstates several of the Trump administration’s previous stances, including defining male and female strictly by biological sex and ceasing the issuance of federal identity documents that allow for a gender marker other than male or female.

The order also includes directives to house transgender individuals in federal prisons according to their sex assigned at birth and prohibits federal funding for promoting what it terms as "gender ideology."

This executive directive has raised concerns regarding its alignment with the Supreme Court’s decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, which protects LGBTQ+ individuals under the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Legal challenges are anticipated as the administration attempts to implement these policies, particularly concerning the treatment of transgender individuals in federal facilities and the issuance of federal identification documents that reflect gender identity.

Critics argue that these policies not only contradict existing legal protections but also compromise the dignity and safety of transgender individuals.

Golden Visas and second citizenship for non-binary people

Malta provides an opportunity for same-sex couples and non-binary partners to obtain residency by investment. The minimum investment is €182,000. To qualify, applicants meet several specific requirements:

  • purchasing or renting real estate;

  • paying government fees;

  • making a donation;

  • confirming assets of at least €500,000.

Portugal is also an option, with the Golden Visa starting at €250,000 investment. The Portugal Golden Visa offers compelling benefits for Americans considering overseas investment and residency.

After five years, investors have the possibility to apply for permanent residency or citizenship, granting them access to a stable EU passport.

Caribbean citizenship can be obtained by investing at least €200,000. Second citizenship allows you to visit the country at any time if needed. Additionally, these programs often come with tax benefits, such as no taxation on worldwide income, which can be highly advantageous for investors and entrepreneurs.
