7 reasons to get a Grenada passport

Visa-free travel to the Schengen countries, the UK, China, Singapore, and Hong Kong, as well as eligibility for a visa to the United States: these are some of the opportunities offered by Grenada citizenship.

Applicants can get a Grenada passport within 3 to 6 months by participating in the citizenship by investment program. To get second passports, investors contribute at least $150,000 to the country's economy.

Get Grenada citizenship
Reason #1

Visa-free travel

144 visa-free countries can be visited with a Grenada passport.

The Schengen Area and the United Kingdom are among the visa-free destinations for Grenada passport holders. Grenada citizens can stay in the Schengen states for up to 90 days in any six-month period, and in the UK, for up to 180 days a year.

China is another country that Grenada citizens can visit without a visa, for up to 30 days a year, as the two countries have signed a special agreement.

Singapore and Hong Kong: Grenada citizens can also travel to Singapore visa-free for up to 30 days a year, and Hong Kong, for up to 90 days a year.

The USA can be visited by Grenada citizens with a 10-year B-1/B-2 tourist visa. With a Grenada passport, this visa can be obtained in two weeks due to a simplified procedure.

The Schengen countries: up to 90 days in any six-month period

The UK: up to 180 days a year

China: up to 30 days a year

Singapore: up to 30 days a year

Hong Kong: up to 90 days a year

Reason #2

Living in the USA with a Grenada passport

Eligibility for an E-2 business visa is another reason to choose a Grenada passport. This business visa is issued only to citizens of countries with a special agreement with the USA.

E-2 visa holders can live and do business in the United States. The spouse and children of the main applicant can also get visas to live, study and work in the USA. There are no restrictions on entering and leaving the country.

To get an E-2 visa, an applicant must invest in a local business. The company can be their own or a franchise business. The investor must own at least 50% of the company or hold a management position in it.

Although there is no minimum investment required by law, in our experience, the applicant needs to invest about $200,000.

According to a CNBC report, 705 billionaires live in the US, which is more than the total number of billionaires in the next four countries combined
Reason #3

Scholarships and benefits for education in the UK and the USA

Grenada citizens can receive a first class education in the UK and the USA on preferential terms because Grenada has close historical and economic ties with these countries.

Grenada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Therefore, scholarships to study at universities in the UK, such as the Commonwealth Scholarship Fellowship Plan (CSFP), are available to Grenada citizens. The CSFP can reduce the cost of studying in the UK.

A student can obtain a British residence permit in three days if the applicant has a Grenada passport. They can apply for the permit in the UK. In contrast, most international students need to apply for a residence permit to study in the UK through their consulate and the process takes several months.

Leading Grenada universities interact with universities in the USA and UK: for example, St. George's University of Medicine in Grenada. Branches of the university operate in the United States and Britain. Students also complete a 16-week internship in US and British hospitals. The university’s diploma is recognised in 47 countries, including the United States, the UK and Germany.

Edon got Grenada citizenship to enrol in the St George’s University with a scholarship: the country’s citizens have access to the Grenada Partnership Award scholarship, which covers 90% of the education costs.

Edon is studying there to be a doctor and plans to work as a doctor in the United States.

Reason #4

Benefits for Grenada tax residents

Taxes for individuals in Grenada. Tax residents do not pay taxes on capital gains, gifts, inheritance, royalties, interest or dividends. The tax on real estate ranges from 0 to 0.5%.

Taxes for businesses in Grenada. Companies that are tax residents of Grenada do not pay tax on dividends, royalties, interest or capital gains. The tax on global income earned in Grenada and abroad is 28%.

Some companies pay tax at a reduced rate. For example, a 0% tax applies to suppliers of basic food, electricity or water for domestic and agricultural use.

Reason #5

Accounts in European and American banks

The Grenada second passport holder can easily and quickly open accounts in European and American banks. In contrast, citizens of most countries face numerous difficulties in opening a bank account in the EU or the USA: there are strict Due Diligence checks, and banks often reject their applications.

An account with a European or American bank allows the holder to keep their savings in a hard currency and pay lower commissions for foreign transfers. It also speeds up foreign exchange settlements with business partners.

Reason #6

Second passports for the whole family

The investor can include their family and relatives in the application for Grenada citizenship, as long as the children, parents, and grandparents of the main applicant or their spouse are financially dependent on them.

At the same time, only unmarried siblings without children of their own are eligible to participate in the citizenship by investment program together with the investor.

The Grenada citizenship program is the only one in the Caribbean that allows the investor to include parents of any age in the application. The citizenship programs in other Caribbean countries have age restrictions for parents.

Family members who can get Grenada passports together with the investor:

  • spouses;
  • children under 30;
  • parents;
  • grandparents;
  • unmarried siblings over 18.
Reason #7

Comparatively low cost and the ability to recover the initial investment

The cost of the Grenada citizenship program is just one-fifth of the cost charged by EU countries. The minimum investment sum is $150,000 in Grenada, whereas the minimum investment for obtaining an EU residence permit is €250,000. At the same time, a residence permit does not provide the same freedom of travel as citizenship.

The Grenada citizenship program charges a Due Diligence fee of $5,000 per family member over 17. The investor also pays administrative and passport fees.

How to get a Grenada passport

The Grenada citizenship by investment program offers the quickest way to get a country’s passport: within 3 to 6 months.

An investor can get a passport only through a licensed agent as it is a prerequisite of the program. The procedure for obtaining a passport consists of several stages.

Stage 1: a preliminary Due Diligence. At this stage, the licensed agent carries out a preliminary Due Diligence and warns the investor about possible risks of application rejection, if there are any.

Immigrant Invest has its own Compliance Department. Our certified Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer studies the situation and gives recommendations. It helps reduce the rejection risk to almost zero.

Stage 2: collecting and submitting documents. The licensed agent's lawyers prepare all necessary documents and submit them to the Grenada CBI Unit.

At this stage, the investor pays the state and Due Diligence fees.

Stage 3: fulfilment of investment conditions. The investor transfers the agreed investment amount after receiving the government’s approval of their application. The confirmation is sent by email to the agent. The investor can transfer the money to the CBI Unit from their personal bank account.

Stage 4: obtaining a passport. After the investment is transferred to the Grenada CBI Unit, the passport and naturalisation certificate are sent to the address indicated by the investor.

All stages of the citizenship by investment application can take place remotely. The physical presence of the investor in Grenada is not required.
